I just want to say thank you!!! You have no idea just how much you letter "Yo soy boricua" touched me. I'm 24 and was adopted by a black family when I was 6 months old. I'm Puerto Rican and Domincian. My parents tried their hardest to instill in me "Puerto Rican Pride" but I found it hard when everyone I saw who is Puerto Rican is so much lighter than me! When people asked me what nationality I was and I stated they found it hard to believe that we come in all shades and sizes! Your letter brought tears to my eyes!! I've always respected you as a women and role model. I can't wait to share your letter with my children, whenever I have them!!
